Day 1: Departure - Arrival Los Angeles, California
Welcome to Los Angeles!
Upon the arrival of all tour participants, we gather for a warm welcome and refreshing introductions. The evening unfolds with a delightful program focused on getting to know one another, complemented by a shared dinner in the heart of authentic American style. For those still brimming with energy after the day’s journey, an option to unwind at a nearby local bar awaits, adding a touch of camaraderie to the beginning of our adventure.
Day 2: Los Angeles - San Diego
(Driving day 1: 212 km/132 miles)
The inaugural driving day unfolds with a mix of cityscape, highways, and a scenic drive along the legendary Pacific Coast Highway 1, guiding us toward the vibrant city of San Diego. We ease into the California driving conditions and soak in the temperatures, ensuring everyone is tuned for the ride. Approximately 30 minutes into our journey, we pause at Long Beach for an extra security check of bikes, equipment, and drivers, setting the stage for the real adventure that lies ahead.
Anticipate a delectable lunch at Ruby’s Diner in Laguna Beach, where the old-fashioned milkshakes come highly recommended! From there, our route takes us directly to San Diego. Upon arrival, we cruise to Historic Old Town, check into our hotel, and dive into the myriad offerings of this dynamic city—exploring the USS Midway, Maritime Museum, Little Italy, and the charm of Old Town. The rest of the day promises to be an immersive experience in all the excitement San Diego has to offer!
Day 3: San Diego - Blythe

Departing the enchanting city of San Diego, we embark on a day of exhilarating motorcycle exploration along the picturesque routes of Historic Route 94 and 98, accompanied by the charm of Old Hwy 80. These winding roads traverse through breathtaking scenery, offering moments of awe. Be sure to keep your camera ready to capture the beauty that unfolds around every curve!
For a significant part of the day, our journey parallels the Mexico border, closely guarded by the vigilant U.S. Border Patrol. A delightful Mexican lunch awaits us at a popular local diner in Calexico, adding a touch of authentic flavor to our adventure.
Post our stop in Calexico, we continue northeast, navigating through the Imperial Sand Dunes—an extraordinary experience akin to driving through a sandy desert, surrounded by imposing sand dunes on either side of the road. This rare encounter promises to be a highlight of the day, with a special stop in the midst of this “desert” before we proceed to Blythe.
As the day unfolds, we conclude our desert escapade and head to a local steakhouse in the evening. Here, we savor the true essence of American dining with a hearty steak, rounding off our day of exploration with a delicious taste of local cuisine.
Day 4: Blythe - Sedona

Our day kicks off with a scenic transport leg through the dry prairie landscape before we delve into the exhilarating stretch of motorcycle roads leading to Prescott. Brace yourself for the ride on Hwy 89, renowned as one of Arizona’s premier motorcycle routes. This route offers both the thrill of challenging sections and the pure joy of an immensely enjoyable ride – an experience we cannot praise highly enough!
Following a satisfying lunch in Prescott, our journey continues on winding and spirited motorcycle roads, guiding us to the historic Jerome ghost town. From there, we make our way to the awe-inspiring natural preserve of Oak Creek Canyon, a haven surrounded by breathtaking scenery and distinctive rock formations. This picturesque paradise may seem familiar, as it has served as the backdrop for numerous iconic cowboy movies. Ranked as Arizona’s second most popular tourist attraction, Oak Creek Canyon is a captivating destination, second only to the Grand Canyon.
Our final destination for the day is Sedona, nestled in the heart of Oak Creek Canyon. This unique Indian city boasts dramatic natural surroundings that transport you to another world. Renowned for its spiritual energy and vibrant cultural community, Sedona promises a truly immersive experience, making it a fitting end to a day filled with thrilling rides and captivating landscapes.
Day 5: Sedona - Tuba City

Prepare for the pinnacle of our tour – the awe-inspiring Grand Canyon! Our day begins with a thrilling ride along winding motorcycle roads, guiding us out of Oak Creek Canyon, passing through Flagstaff, and tracing the historic path of Route 66. Enveloped by stunning scenery, our route sets the stage for the grandeur that awaits.
Just before the Grand Canyon’s “entrance,” we encounter the helicopter base. For those who have pre-ordered the helicopter tour, get ready for an unforgettable experience. Hovering in the air over one of the world’s seven wonders provides a magical and up-close encounter with this natural marvel. Highly recommended! Note: Helicopter rides must be booked separately in advance.
Following the helicopter tour, we embark on a short ride to the visitor center, where we indulge in the world’s most-watched Imax movie. As the film unfolds, it feels as if you’re standing inside the Grand Canyon itself. Lunch is served at this captivating location. Subsequently, we venture into the Grand Canyon, dedicating the remainder of the day to exploration. Get ready for this year’s most memorable vacation photoshoot!
As the day concludes, we set our course toward another renowned natural phenomenon – Monument Valley. However, we make an overnight stop in Tuba City on our way, ensuring a seamless transition to the next chapter of our adventure.
Day 6: Tuba City - Hanksville

Embarking on another day of adventure, we set our course for Monument Valley, an iconic and globally renowned natural wonder, often captured in some of the world’s most breathtaking photographs. Describing Monument Valley falls short; it’s a place that demands to be experienced. Up close, immerse yourself in the classic Wild West landscape, characterized by magnificent sandstone rock formations bathed in a reddish hue. The beauty of this terrain is beyond words, and only within Monument Valley will you truly grasp the profound influence it has had on shaping perceptions of the Wild West. While similar landscapes exist elsewhere, none rival the perfection exhibited here. Riding amidst these majestic rock formations, you’ll find yourself in the heart of the Navajo Indians’ territory, soaking in the spiritual ambiance that envelops the area.
Our journey continues to Mexican Hat, yet another natural marvel. Is it a sombrero or a stone formation? The intrigue adds to the richness of our adventure. From there, we head northward, bound for Lake Powell and Utah’s national parks. Brace yourself for a driving experience that will etch itself into your memory. Surrounded by awe-inspiring rock formations, the landscape offers a three-dimensional perspective of height. Throughout the day, we navigate through exceptionally beautiful and spectacular scenery, riding on thrilling motorcycle roads. Today stands out as one of the tour’s absolute highlights! Our route takes us through Goosenecks State Park, Natural Bridges National Monument, Glen Canyon, Lake Powell, Goblin Valley, and Horseshoe Canyon, promising an unforgettable journey through some of the most remarkable natural wonders.
Day 7: Hanksville - Hurricane

Our journey through Utah continues, unveiling a breathtaking and spectacular drive that feels like a succession of pearls on a string—each national park a unique gem. From the enchanting Goblin Canyon to the majestic Capitol Reef and the serene Otter Creek State Park, the landscapes unfold like a mesmerizing tapestry. The true jewel of our route, however, lies in the exhilarating ride up and down the elevations of the Escalante Staircase, an experience that we believe will leave you unable to contain your joy!
A highlight of the tour awaits at Bryce Canyon, where the rock formations defy description and offer an experience akin to the grandeur of the Grand Canyon. The magic of Bryce Canyon is sure to leave an indelible mark, etching a memory that will last a lifetime.
Our journey then takes us through the scenic Dixie National Forest, leading to yet another extraordinary National Park—Zion. Day 8: Hurricane - Las Vegas

Gear up for another extraordinary day! Our journey begins by traversing the breathtaking landscape of Zion, where you’ll not only witness some of the world’s most magnificent rock formations but also navigate the particularly winding roads famously known as “the switchbacks of Zion.” Contrasting with Yosemite and the Grand Canyon, Zion offers a more aesthetically appreciative perspective of nature, adding a unique charm to our route.
Exiting Zion, we set our course straight to the neon-lit gambling oasis, Las Vegas. Arriving in the early afternoon, we park the bikes and dedicate the remainder of the day to exploring this exhilarating city. As evening descends, you have the freedom to immerse yourself in the allure of “Sin City.” Revel in the fact that you’re in one of the most entertaining cities in the world!
Las Vegas boasts a myriad of attractions, from stunning architecture to unique shows, world-renowned casinos, and a plethora of entertainment options. The city never fails to captivate, and most attractions are conveniently within walking distance. We highly recommend a trip to iconic spots such as Caesar’s Palace, Bellagio, MGM, Stardust, Treasure Island, The Venetian, Mirage, Wyatt, and The Fashion Show Mall featuring over 200 stores. At the Mirage, don’t miss the evening volcanic eruptions every 30 minutes, transforming the garden into a mesmerizing flame show. Inside the casino, encounter rare white tigers. The water show outside the Bellagio is another unforgettable spectacle that will leave you with memories to cherish for a lifetime. Enjoy the vibrant energy and endless possibilities that Las Vegas has to offer!
Day 9: Las Vegas - Lone Pine

Embarking on the western journey from Las Vegas, our route leads us to the infamous Death Valley – the hottest place on Earth outside the Equator! Here, the landscape unfolds with almost no shade, and the heat is nothing short of extreme. Despite the challenging conditions, the wonders of nature in this vast expanse are truly extraordinary and exhilarating.
For an early lunch, we pause in the heart of Death Valley, surrounded by its unique and captivating environment. Following our meal, we navigate through a series of turns and mountains, eventually finding ourselves at an elevation more than 30 meters below sea level. The contrasting landscapes and dramatic changes in elevation make this leg of the journey both thrilling and awe-inspiring.
Continuing our westward trajectory, we ride through Sequoia National Park en route to Lone Pine, our chosen overnight stop. The day promises a blend of intense natural beauty, extreme conditions, and the sheer excitement of exploring diverse landscapes.
Day 10: Lone Pine - Jamestown

Our day kicks off with a delightful drive to Bishop, where a local bakery awaits with aromatic coffee and delectable pastries, setting the perfect tone for the journey ahead. From there, we make our way to Mammoth Lakes, renowned for mountain biking in the summer and skiing in the winter. Heading north, our route takes us through the picturesque Tioga Pass before we traverse the breathtaking expanse of Yosemite National Park.
As we ride through colossal granite mountains on winding motorcycle roads, a level of concentration is required, building anticipation as we approach the unparalleled grandeur of Yosemite, the mother of all national parks. Yosemite’s towering heights and captivating landscapes offer a sensory feast, showcasing the beauty of wild, tame, and abundant nature. A well-deserved outdoor lunch amid the open wilderness of Yosemite awaits, providing a moment to savor the surroundings.
Concluding our day’s journey, we make our way to the charming old miner village of Jamestown. Along the route to Jamestown, expect twisty and challenging motorcycle roads that are sure to keep a big smile on your face. However, a gentle reminder to proceed with caution – the road may be thrilling, but safety is our top priority.
Day 11: Jamestown - San Francisco

As we exit the stunning Yosemite National Park, the adventure continues on exceptional motorcycle roads, and we’re certain it will leave you with a broad smile. Once we bid farewell to Yosemite, our westward journey unfolds towards the picturesque town of Sausalito and the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. Here, we take a moment to relish the breathtaking view of the bridge and the beauty of San Francisco in the distance.
Following this scenic interlude, we embark on a ride across the renowned Golden Gate Bridge, ultimately arriving in the vibrant city of San Francisco. Our accommodations will be conveniently located near the Embarcadero, providing easy access to its array of attractions. Get ready to immerse yourself in the charm of San Francisco, with its iconic landmarks and lively atmosphere, making for a memorable stay near the heart of the city.
Day 12: San Francisco

Awakening in the vibrant and whimsical city of San Francisco, you might just grasp why Frank Sinatra left his heart in this captivating place. San Francisco, with its quirky charm, individualistic spirit, and surprisingly compact size, stands as the epitome of liberal culture in the United States.
The city exudes a distinctly European feel, offering a plethora of sightseeing opportunities that may surpass the confines of our short stay. A visit to Fisherman’s Wharf is a must, where you can meander through charming shops and quaint street cafes celebrated for serving some of the world’s finest seafood dishes. Don’t miss the chance to hop on one of the city’s famous “Cable Cars,” a moving landmark that embodies the heart of this extraordinary city.
Additional options for exploration abound, including the historic Alcatraz Island (booking in advance is essential), invigorating harbor cruises, the culturally rich Chinatown, and Lombard Street, renowned as one of America’s curviest streets. For those with a taste for adventure, consider a road trip to Napa Valley to indulge in wine tasting, adding another layer of enjoyment to your San Francisco experience.
Day 13: San Francisco - Monterey

Brace yourselves for an extraordinary day of driving – this is undoubtedly one of the tour’s most exhilarating highlights! Our route takes us along the legendary Pacific Highway 1, hugging the spectacular coastline and introducing us to one of the world’s most breathtaking motorcycle roads. Prepare for stunning views of caves, rock formations, and ample opportunities to capture picturesque moments.
Along the way, we make a pitstop at the renowned biker bar, “Alice’s,” before navigating through the winding marvels of Big Basin Redwood State Park. This lush haven boasts curvy and narrow motorcycle roads, flanked by the iconic wide Redwood trees. Numerous stops punctuate our journey along Pacific Highway 1 and through the Redwood forest, each offering a chance to soak in the natural beauty and snap memorable photos.
Our day’s adventure concludes in Monterey, home to the globally acclaimed Laguna Seca Automobile racetrack. Upon arrival in this splendid seaside city, we dedicate the afternoon to exploring Cannery Row, a bustling district adorned with beautiful hotels, shops, and restaurants. The day culminates with a delightful dinner at the famous Fisherman’s Wharf, allowing you to savor the coastal charm of Monterey.
Day 14: Monterey - Solvang

Our journey unfolds along the highly acclaimed Pacific Highway 1, where majestic mountains grace our left side and the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean stretches out on our right. As we traverse beyond the enchanting Big Sur, the warm Californian sun bathes us, accompanied by the invigorating touch of salty sea air on our skin. Prepare for several miles of awe-inspiring views and remarkable formations, where the Santa Lucia Mountains embrace the Pacific Ocean, crafting one of the most stunning stretches along the California coast. Today, you’ll be embraced by a delightful warm breeze, culminating in the embrace of a spectacular sunset.
Our route leads us through the charming beach resort of Pismo Beach before reaching the “Danish” city of Solvang (a sister town of Aarhus). Here, we’ll reside in a Danish Gjæstgiveri, dine at a Danish Brewery restaurant, and indulge in breakfast at a Danish bakery. The day promises a blend of scenic wonders and cultural immersion, creating lasting memories along this remarkable stretch of the Californian coast.
Day 15: Solvang - Los Angeles

As we bid adieu to the charming town of Solvang, our journey through southern California beckons—a region known for the Beach Boys, Hollywood, and some of the nation’s most breathtaking landscapes. Our midday stop for lunch in Santa Barbara adds another layer of allure, often referred to as America’s Riviera due to its climate and geography reminiscent of the French and Italian Riviera.
With Santa Barbara’s beauty embraced, we embark on a leisurely cruise down the iconic Pacific Coast Highway 1, leading us to the renowned Neptune’s Net biker restaurant in Malibu. The journey then unfolds towards the dazzling cityscape of Los Angeles. Upon reaching our destination, we bid farewell to our bikes, exchanging boots for lighter summer attire. The afternoon is dedicated to exploring the surroundings of our hotel, culminating in a memorable farewell dinner. It’s a time to reflect on our incredible journey and prepare for the return trip, cherishing the memories forged along the scenic routes of southern California.
Day 16: Departure - Home Travel
As we bid farewell to the captivating landscapes of America’s Wild West and the vibrant city of Los Angeles, it’s time to return home. The group will travel together by shuttle to the airport. We express our heartfelt gratitude for the fantastic ride, the camaraderie, and, most importantly, for choosing to embark on this journey with Joyrides.
